Scary Scope of Work

Thiago and I have been overwhelmed today with topics our customer wants us to talk about and problems they want us to solve - it must be at least 50 different assignments. They established a tight timetable for us, when we should give classes at university, give lectures to the teachers, lead discussions with the management team, talk to SW developers to improve their work, conduct workshop with the sales people, establish a employee motivation system, create a strategy to help low performers to catch up, increase their website security, and many more tasks. Our translater already told them, that "the IBM experts are not god himself", but human and cannot do all that in a few days, but their expectations are really high.
To show their respect and high expectation in our work, they had a flower ceremony today, when both Thiago and I received a huge flower bouquet and an extremely fancy lunch with at least 20 dishes. Unfortunately we both were not really hungry, so it was very difficult to taste every dish in order to be polite.

Lucy, our Chinese contact from the Non-profit-organisation that organises this CSC assignment told us, that this is a way to show us how serious they are about our work. The company is also paying for their interpreter themselves, so they show that they are investing on our skill-transfer assignment. Pretty scary. I will go to bed now... and leave you with a photo of the company meeting and the flowers... - Sue
