Today we had to put together our team presentation which seems to be an easy job, but unfortunately, today the internet was not working and many of us still had to do some changes on their personal presentations. This was quite a frustrating situation! Did I say, the internet works fine in this hotel? Well, you must not count your chickens before they hatch... We decided that our new group slogan would be "Is the Internet up and running? I cannot get to the Internet.."
Another time-consuming activity was that 4 of us decided to have business cards printed with a Chinese translation of our names as a courtesy to our Chinese hosts. In the end we got them, and they really look awesome, but it took us quite some time!
Then the great moment arrived and we drove to the technology park to meet our clients for the first time. There were a lot of presentations going on and in the end we all paired up with our clients.
Thiago and myself will work with Hebei Systop Technology Co., Ltd. which turned out to be at least 4 companies who we will deal with: a software training center, a software university, a software development company and a job center (for intellectual jobs). We were showed around and were driven through the whole city. The funny thing about it was, that there was a camera team following us - we felt very important as well as intimitated. We learned that we will need the whole first week to get to know all the companies Systop comprises and should then start with presentations, workshops, lectures and consulting. Puh! Thiago and I will have to work a lot obviously!
But anyway, they were very nice and we have a personal translator who will help us regarding communication and presentations.
Today we again had a nice all team dinner, the Chinese way of having dinner is really very different from what I know at least. You order a whole lot of stuff and everybody is picking from everything. You always end up having eaten too much unless you are vegetarian or on any other food diet.
So guys, that was our first exciting day starting with the CSC assignment - lots of work ahead of us, so I better go to sleep soon.
See you soon, - Sue
